NUS, NTU move up global university rankings

　　新加坡国立大学，新加坡南洋理工大学全球大学排名提高

　　The National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) have risen up the ranks in the fifth US News & World Report's Best Global Universities Rankings.

　　新加坡国立大学(NUS)和新加坡南洋理工大学(NTU)在第五期的《美国新闻与世界报道》上的全球大学排名都有了提升。

　　NUS was ranked 38th this year, up from the 43rd spot last year, while NTU was 49th, up from the 55th spot.

　　今年新加坡国立大学排名从去年的第43位上升到第38位, 南大从去年的第55位上升到第49位。

　　Harvard University took the top spot again.

　　哈佛大学再次问鼎榜首。

　　Published annually, the rankings take into account 1,250 universities across 75 countries, and are based on 13 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations.

　　该排名每年发布一次，包括了七十五个国家在内的一千二百五十所大学，并基于十三项量化指标，这些指标衡量了大学的学术研究表现以及他们在全球和地区的声誉。

　　NTU president Subra Suresh said the staff were "committed to the goal of elevating NTU as a great global university".

　　"However, our pursuit of excellence is not just measured by rankings as they don't always fully convey our strong pushfor excellence in research, education and innovation not reflected inquantitative metrics," he added.

　　他补充说:“然而，我们对卓越的追求并不仅仅是通过排名来衡量的，因为排名并不总能充分反映出我们在研究、教育和创新方面的强大推动力，这些推动力有时并没有完全反映在量化指标中。”
